Nanna moment In honor of Wrens sixth birthday tomorrow, I thought I would throw out this story about her name. Once it was determined Greg and Kristen were having a girl, and once I was informed in no uncertain terms that I would have absolutely no part in naming her, I felt free to help (read here: let my imagination run wild). Some of you may know I am an amateur birder. I do love birds, and since the last name is Martin, my first offering was Purple. Purple Martin. After that was shouted, shouted, I tell you, down, I retreated for serious contemplation. Meanwhile, I was told my grandchild would be Wren. Delighted, I offered more help. Carolina Wren. No. Phoebe Wren. No. Robin Wren. NO NO NO! My cousin June Jolley even suggested House Wren. The response to that doesnt even bear telling. But. She is my Wren, and tomorrow is her birthday. I do love her so.
