Nannas get asked many question. The point of this page is to show the actual truth of what is happening in the Central Highlands. The destruction, the killing of wildlife, the closing of recreational areas which are never put back the same as they were before logging. There is enough plantation timber for logging jobs instead of using native forests for making paper & beer pallets. The logging of native forests is long past its due date. To see trees like the ones yesterday going down Chum Creek Road you know the whole process is unethical. Forests produce carbon and store water and give pleasure to many. It is not about jobs because the majority of the unemployed in the Yarra Valley #Eildon electorate do not want logging jobs. Nannas now have to work till they are 70 and we do not want logging jobs. We can see a beautiful vision of tourism in these forests creating employment for accommodation, recreational guides, park rangers, walking, driving, riding. So much diversity will come from this forest. As Joe Hockey once said the age of entitlement is over. This also means the entitlement is over for the subsidised logging industry which is on the same playing level as dole bludgers except the CEO and rest of staff are on $60,000 - $150,000+ pa. The entitlement is over for those who think that just because their ancestors were loggers they then have a god given right to do it too. It is time for politicians and the population of Australia to take full responsibility with our resources instead of being bullied about jobs. We all need to wake up. Trees mean air, water, shade, bio-diversity. Plantations can be grown on private land just like farmers grow their crops on private land. Our vision is in these pictures. All the trees except for Wirra Willa picture (of creek) and the tall trees are now gone. So have the ferns. Gone to logging. Nannas have a responsibility as elders of our community to ensure the future is intact for our future generations. We are the watchers and we record what we see. We want to see a Great Forest National Park.
