Natalie Says Please help. I am a step mum and I have no one to ask. My step son spends every weekend with us and has done for 2 Years. He has ASD and is 7. He has always been ok and calm as well as very happy in mine and his dads home, But something has changed. He wont sleep in our or his mums house anymore. This has been since Christmas. He normally feels comfortable in our house but feels frightened at his mums but now its both houses. He now acts incredibly frightened and scared and I dont know what to do. At night it takes a long struggle to get him to sleep and there are tears and panic and he wants to sit outside our room or the stairs rather than go In his own bed. I asked him and after a long conversation he said needs to be close to people who are awake and gets very frightened if he thinks everyone is asleep as the scary thoughts that come in his head get worse. He sleeps In with his two baby sisters and this normally makes him feel secure, but not anymore. What can we do to help him feel more happy and comfotable?
