Nathan has had a really good week, like 6 consecutive days. No - TopicsExpress

Nathan has had a really good week, like 6 consecutive days. No heart rate issues, no vomiting, no lethargy, progress at therapy, very few tears, many smiles and a couple of excellent nights of sleep. The Occupational Therapists have noticed some changes and have identified these as something called sensory modulation difficulties. They are viewing this as progress because before he was so unaware of things around him but now his brain is waking up enough that we can see the processing problems and start to address some coping skills. It looks like one of the first steps will be a weighted blanket. I am shopping for one, they are about $150 to have a custom blanket appropriate in weight and to accommodate his height. The hope is that he will be able to calm himself and deal with the overstimulation and inability to calm down enough to sleep and alleviate the tears from being overly tired. The constant hat wearing that Nathan insists on, even sometimes when he goes to bed is part of this. I had never realized until yesterday, she added a little bit of weight to the inside of his hat and a whole different child appeared instantly. Next week will be busy with our first cardiology appointments, seeing the developmental pediatrician and three days of therapy. We still have not gotten word on the dental grant for his surgery on the 26th. Our medical insurance will take care of all of it but about $5000 so praying the funds become available, either way the surgery will move forward. Please continue to keep Nathan in your hearts and on your prayer lists, the challenges just keep coming and we thankfully are able to keep meeting the demands. XO
