National Capital Tour, trying to make the most of a bad situation. Picked up something nasty only 2 days before leaving Adelaide, bad stomach, hot and cold sweats, headache, dizziness and something Ive never come across before, eyeball ache. Thought I would be able to fight it out and although the head related aches went away, the whole thing had taken it out of me, meaning a weak performance on the ITT (day 1) and within only 30mins of the road race the next day, I was dehydrated and suffering headaches again. With a total of 120km I held on to the peloton until around 70km, then rode to around 90km on my own before succumbing to the lure of the sag wagon. Tour over and nothing accomplished other than some nice site seeing. But how good the Canberra weather and sites have been, this place on a clear warm day is sensational, well done Canberra. Good luck to the rest of the team, who as I write this are waiting for the start of the final stage while the women go round, a brutal 50km crit around an elevated circuit in front of parliament house. #focusstraya #swisswellness #swcyclingteam
