National Capital Wing responded this morning to a REDCAP Alert (Search and Rescue) for an overdue aircraft (See earlier post). NATCAPWG assisted the Virginia Wing in a short search for a missing Cessna 172 that departed Frederick, Maryland that went missing overnight on a training mission. The Wing provided one chaplain, one liaison to the Flight School that the aircraft belonged to and flew one SAR aircraft sortie. Police in Virginia located the crash site before CAP assets reached the target. The thoughts and prayers of NATCAPWG go out to the families affected by this tragedy.
