National Christian Foundation Position Title: Information Technology Business Analyst Name of Incumbent: Reports to: Director, Information Technology Reporting to this Position: No Direct Reports FLSA: Exempt Revised: 04.08.14 II. Position Overview: The Information Technology Analyst serves as an IT generalist, focusing in the areas of business analysis, project management, process improvement, and resource integration to help ensure excellent customer service experiences for all internal and external IT customers. III. Essential Functions: 1. Responds to organizational needs or opportunities as determined by stakeholder(s) or sponsor(s): a. Meets with stakeholder(s) or sponsor(s) as directed by the Director, Information Technology to discuss an expressed need or opportunity for business analysis b. Meets with the Director, Information Technology to establish, confirm, or clarify the current roster of project priorities c. Initiates and tests understanding of high-level requirements according to the stakeholder and sponsor needs d. Refines, as needed, a high-level scope and engagement plan definition as well as relevant constraints 2. Defines and clarifies problem or opportunity a. Gathers sufficient documents, information, and facts in order to define the current state of the problem or opportunity b. Determines the accuracy and relevance of gathered information as it relates to the problem/opportunity being defined c. Interacts with stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) in order to better understand the problem or opportunity d. Identify alternatives and make recommendations regarding further analysis e. Facilitates agreement with stakeholders on problem statement, high-level scope, and goals for the analysis to be performed f. Formulates a refined scope definition, problem statement, and goals as needed 3. Utilize standard IIBA methodologies to perform business analysis a. Uses structured processes, analysis tools and skills to perform a thorough analysis of the problem or opportunity b. Identifies principles, factors, relationships, facts, data, risks, or other information that will be helpful in the business analysis c. Analyzes available body of information to make reasonable inferences and draw substantiated conclusions as well as detailing all assumptions d. Conducts needs analysis and gap analysis as necessary e. Provides support in identifying, evaluating and developing cost-effective processes, procedures and systems which could potentially meet stakeholder and sponsor objectives 4. Education/Experience BA/BS in Business Administration or Management Information Systems, a related field or equivalent work experience. IV. Knowledge Base a. Working knowledge of the IIBAs Business Analysis Body of Knowledge b. Business Process Management / Improvement c. Technical Writing d. Working knowledge of GAAP V. Work Experience The Information Technology Analyst should have 3+ years of progressively successful experience in a business-growth environment. In addition, the Information Technology Analyst should have: a. Experience in managing or interacting with business operations including sales, marketing, operational support, and product delivery b. Track record of effectively managing concurrent projects while balancing multiple tasks and priorities c. Proven ability to interpret, summarize and communicate information effectively to senior management d. Outstanding organizational skills, analytical ability and attention to detail e. Proven team player who can effectively work and interface with all levels of the organization f. Understanding of basic accounting principles g. Ability to understand and communicate complex business information and technology issues h. Knowledge of and experience using a standard process analysis framework, e.g. six sigma, lean, kaizen, etc. i.
