National Coalition Of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces Media Statement Syrian Coalition Istanbul, Turkey August 02, 2013 Assad Targets Hutaytat Al Turkman’s Mills in Rural Damascus The Syrian Coalition urges the United Nations and Friends of Syria to act immediately to save civilian lives in Syria and end the bloodshed. This objective can be best achieved by supporting the Syrian Revolution for freedom and dignity. In recent systematic reprisals against Syrian civilians, Assad forces targeted, the Hutaytat Al Turkman’s mills. The FSA had previously liberated the area and controlled the mills to help distribute flour and bread to civilians in besieged eastern Gouta, located in the countryside of Damascus. Assad forces launched six surface-to-surface rockets killing 28 and wounding approximately 80 people. Assad continues to blatantly infringe upon the Geneva Conventions with his blatant targeting of civilians in Syria. Hundreds of thousands of Syrian civilians are under attack in eastern Gouta and in rural areas neighbouring Damascus. There is a dire lack of staple foods and medicine. The Syrian Coalition reminds the international community of its responsibilities towards Syrian civilians and the urgency to ensure their protection in the midst of Assad’s unrelenting attacks on the people. We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees. Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
