National Compliance & Ethics Week is April 28 - May 2 This years theme is Building a Culture of Integrity. The purpose of the week is to highlight the essential connection between business integrity and ethics quality in providing the best care to our nations Veterans. It is co-sponsored in Veterans Health Administration (VHA) by the Compliance and Business Integrity (CBI) program and the National Center for Ethics in Health Care (NCEHC) through its IntegratedEthics® (IE) initiative. Celebrations and activities are being held at facilities, VISNs and VACO, coordinated by CBI Officers and IE Program Officers and staff across the country. The CBI program is committed to achieving the highest standards of business integrity, while the IE program enhances ethics quality throughout VHA. Together with commitment, advocacy, and respect, integrity and excellence make up the core values of VHA, known as ICARE values. Our commitment to these values ensures we provide the best possible service to our Veterans and their families. A Partnership for Veterans One of the central goals of Compliance and Ethics Week is to uphold the link between ethical values and compliant business practices in VHA. Because business compliance is dependent upon an organizational culture of ethics and values, the IE and CBI programs work together to improve overall ethics quality and business compliance. At the same time, we partner with services involved in VHA business operations. Thus, as in in past years, CBI and IE are again teaming up with the VHA Chief Business Office, Office of Finance, Health Information Management Service, and Office of Quality, Safety, and Value to promote the importance of ethics and compliance in VHA. These partnerships help build an ethical organization that values business integrity-an organization worthy of the Veterans we serve.
