National Drowning Prevention Alliance is honored to announce our first keynote speaker for the 2015 NDPA Educational Conference...... Dr. Paul Pepe, MD of University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Dr. Pepe is a prolific resuscitation scientist who published some of the original population-based studies on childhood resuscitation and drowning incidents. He was a key member of the Steering Committee for the 1st World Congress on Drowning (Amsterdam, 2002) and was Chair of the Resuscitation Task Force. In addition to his own compelling presentations and critical role in the organization of this Congress, he wrote the Executive Summary regarding the central issue of resuscitative efforts. In addition to a distinguished academic career with nearly 500 published scientific papers/abstracts, including many landmark publications, Dr. Paul Pepe is also the City of Dallas Director of Medical Emergency Services for Public Safety, Public Health and Homeland Security. Dr. Pepe is a Professor of Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, and Public Health, is Chief of the Division of Emergency Medicine and Riggs Family Chair in Emergency Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Among his many notable contributions to the scientific literature have been the original Chain of Survival paper, the ground-breaking (Chicago airport AED) Defibrillation by the Public study and the original descriptions of Auto-PEEP and Sepsis-Syndrome. The Annual NDPA Educational Conference will take place March 11-13, 2015 at the The Westin Dallas Park Central in Dallas, TX. Online registration opens this month.
