Contact: +23278747042 Press Release The attention of the Alliance Democratic Movement (ADM) has been drawn to series of issues of national concerns that we as a movement finds very disturbing and absurd. These issues if left unabated has the propensity of creating social unrest and murder our hard won peace that as a people we are very proud of and will not sit by and allow bad politics to jeopardize it. First, as a movement we believe that Statistics-Sierra Leone is a semi-autonomous body charged with the responsibility of conducting the entire census process in the country including recruiting those who will help the institution in ensuring that the process is carried out peacefully and credibly across the country. We have been reliably informed that the recruitment process has been shift from the Statistics Secretariat to the local councils which we believe will compromise the work of the secretariat and could be interpreted as a deliberate ploy by the government to achieve it own interest. This act we consider to be undemocratic and robbing off some sections of the society of their social justice. Secondly, we were reliably notified that the government is asking it party members to apply for the various positions needed at the secretariat and asking them to send their applications to the All People’s Congress Party Secretariat. This as a movement we find very worrying and an attempt to discriminate against those other Sierra Leoneans who are not supporting the party. The government is a government of Sierra Leone as a people and as a country thus, must cater for every Sierra Leonean and not it party members by usurping the powers of Statistics. The unemployment rate in the country is very alarming and that we are calling on the government to give equal opportunity to all and stop muscling Statistics-Sierra Leone. Thirdly, we are as a democratic and integrity oriented movement that believes in given opportunity to all; we are calling for the postponement of the entire census process until after the ongoing fight against the Ebola Viral Disease would have been won. The reason being; Sierra Leoneans want to see a credible and transparent process across the country. We are of the firm maxim that what we have enshrined in this release speaks the minds and heart of the ordinary Sierra Leonean whose voice has been silenced. Finally, we will complement the efforts of the government, Non- Governmental Organizations and the private sector geared towards the development of Sierra Leone and its people.
