National Geographic photographer Michael K. Nichols is the grand-prize winner of the 2014 Wildlife Photographer of the Year award, hosted by the British Natural History Museum and BBC Worldwide. Nichols won for his black-and-white image of a lounging pride of lions in Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. Carlos Perez Naval of Spain won the overall youth prize in the competition for a photo of a common yellow scorpion seen in sunlight. Nat Geo photogs Brent Stirton and Tim Laman were also among the winners.
