National Green Party Notices GREEN PARTY CONFERENCE POLICY UPDATE Conference approved the following changes to Green Party policy: A new, more comprehensive energy policy that retains our traditional opposition to nuclear power (EN). A new industry and jobs policy (IN). A new commitment to ensure that no individual or company owns more than 20% of a media market (CMS661-3). A new commitment to support moves towards global labour standards and a global living wage (WR363-4). Deletion of references to airships (EU522 and TR524) and ‘pen-friend schemes’ (PD301). Ending opposition on health grounds to high voltage power cables, mobile phone masts and TETRA masts (PL414 and LP450-3). Ending our commitment to abolish the National Lottery (CMS460). Recognition of the value of military intelligence, provided it is subject to appropriate democratic constraints (PD450). Removal an arbitrary migration cap (MG400). A new commitment to repeal the 2012 Health and Social Care Act and repeal the right of the Health Secretary to close hospitals or departments without effective public consultation (ROPS). A new commitment to introduce a fiscal food policy to foster a healthy diet (FA212). A new commitment to back an international treaty to protect the Arctic Ocean and its environment (IP520-22). A new commitment to end the detention of asylum seekers (RA302). Conference also passed emergency motions, see here, on TTIP, Israel, nature and wellbeing, Occupy Democracy and Ukraine. The policy website will be updated to reflect these changes as soon as possible.
