National Lok Adalats held across the Valley Cases of different nature settled amicably SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 23: In connection with conduct of National Lok Adalat across the country, Mega Lok Adalats were organized across the Valley to settle cases pertaining to provisions of Public Services including revenue, MG NREGA, Electricity, Water Regulation Act, Motor Vehicle Act, MACT, Civil suits, Food Safety Act, Fisheries, Municipal Act, Essential Commodities Act, Bank recovery, Matrimonial, pre-litigation matters etc. for amicable settlement. At the High Court Complex, Srinagar a National Lok Adalat for resolution of cases was organized in which 8 Benches were constituted. The Lok Adalat took up 165 cases for amicable resolution, out of which 101 cases were settled. Besides a compensation of Rs. 5.15 crore was also sanctioned during the Lok Adalat on spot. The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by the Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir. District Legal Services Authority, Pulwama also organized a Lok Adalat for settling 1635 cases by 7 Benches. Besides, a compensation of Rs. 5 crore was also sanctioned during the Lok Adalat. The Lok Adalat settled 1100 cases amicably and was inaugurated by Justice Ali Mohammad Magray at Administrative Complex, Pulwama. Likewise, District Legal Services Authority, Shopian also organized a Lok Adalat for settling 1488 cases by 10 Benches, out of which 815 cases were settled amicably. The Lok Adalat was inaugurated and presided over by Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar. At Kulgam, District Legal Services Authority organized a Lok Adalat in District Court complex, Kulgam for amicable resolution of disputes. As many as 2582 cases were taken up, out of which 2459 cases were settled and an amount of Rs. 2.08 lakh was sanctioned as compensation in various cases. The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar. The District Legal Services Authority Budgam also organized a Lok Adalat to settle 2043 cases. The Lok Adalat resolved 1500 enlisted cases and Rs. 92 lakh were recovered by solving various Bank recovery cases. The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by the Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir. District Legal Services Authority, Srinagar also organized National Lok Adalat at the Saddar Court complex, Srinagar presided over by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, Mr. Mohammad Shafi Khan, in which 5976 cases of different nature were taken up and 5050 cases were settled amicably and a fine of Rs. 6,40,100 was realized besides compensation of Rs. 2,21,32,000 was awarded in MACT cases, Rs. 2.45 crore Bank loans were also recovered during the Lok Adalat. District Legal Services Authority, Anantnag also conducted a Lok Adalat at District Court complex Anantnag, in which 3500 cases were taken up, out of which 2074 cases were resolved amicably, besides an award of Rs. 10.20 crores were sanctioned on spot. The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge, Anantnag, Mr. Abdul Rashid Malik, who is also the Chairman of District Legal Services Authority. At Bijbehara, a National Lok Adalat was also held under the Chairmanship of Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Bijbehara, Mr. A. S. Langh. As many as 89 cases were enlisted for hearing in the said Lok Adalat, out of which 86 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs. 7,33,375 was realized. District Legal Services Authority Baramulla also organized a National Lok Adalat during which 6000 cases were taken for amicable resolution by four Benches constituted, out of which 2200 cases were resolved amicably. The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge, Baramulla, Mr. Rashid Ali Dar, who is also Chairman, District Legal Services Authority. At Sopore, a two Benches National Lok Adalat was presided over by the Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Sopore, Ms. Masrat Roohi, in which 2800 cases were taken up, out of which 2700 cases were settled amicably during the Lok Adalat. An amount of Rs. 3,24,800 was realized as fine. As many as 2755 cases were taken up in Lok Adalat organized by District Legal Services Authority, Ganderbal at District Court Complex Ganderbal for settlement, out of which 2652 cases were resolved by 5 Benches constituted. An amount of Rs. 4,32,400 was recovered as fine for violation of various acts while Rs. 3836700 was paid as compensation to the victims of windstorm. Besides Rs. 1,52,65,000 was realized in Bank recovery cases. The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by the Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Ganderbal, Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Malik. At Bandipora, District Legal Services Authority constituted 14 Benches to resolve 1200 cases. Out of which 890 cases were settled amicably. An amount of Rs. 2 lakh were also recovered as fine in various cases besides Rs. one lakh was awarded in MACT case and Rs. one lakh in civil suit as compensation. The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by the Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Mr. Haq Nawaz Zargar. At Sumbal, Tehsil Legal Services Committee organized National Lok Adalat to settle 1100 cases, out of which 790 were resolved amicably and Rs. 25,000 were recovered as fine on the spot. The Lok Adalat was headed by Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Sumbal, Mr. Imran Hussain Wani. At Kupwara, District Legal Services Authority constituted six Benches for organizing Lok Adalats in Kupwara, Handwara and Sogam. Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Kupwara, Mr. Mohammad Ibrahim Wani inaugurated three Benches, Lok Adalat, in which 3000 cases were enlisted, out of which Lok Adalat resolved 2625 cases amicably and an amount of Rs. 7, 37,550 realized as fine besides recovering an amount of Rs. 1, 33, 93,264 was recovered during the Lok Adalat. At Kargil, a National Lok Adalat was held at the Office chamber of Deputy Commissioner, Kargil under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Kargil. As many as 54 cases were taken up, out of which 19 cases were settled amicably. Meanwhile, a National Lok Adalat was also held at the Court complex Kargil presided over by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kargil, Mr. Tahir Khurshid Raina. Chief Judicial Magistrate Kargil, Mr. Javaid Alam and Munsiff Judge Sankoo, Mr. Saplazer Angmo also participated. As many as 700 cases were taken up, out of which 650 cases were settled amicably during the National Lok Adalat. An amount of Rs. 1,25,000 was realized as fine besides Rs. 44500 was recovered as fine.
