National Manufacturing day is October 3rd. The McHenry County Economic Development Corporation is hosting a Manufacturing Expo October 3rd and 4th at Main Street and Crystal Lake Avenue. Many McHenry County Manufacturers will be displaying what they make in the Old Oak Industries building. This is also a job fair and the companies are all trying to send a message to the local population that we have jobs that we cant fill now and will need more talent in the future. Kids will be given either Jawbones (Plastic Lego like kit) or an electronic put together model (1 per family) at a project table from 10-12:00 on Saturday the 4th. On Manufacturing Day Nationally: Over 30,000 students 11,000 parents and teachers In 48 states 22 proclamations McHenry County Economic Development Corporation hosted events: Friday October 3 – “Made in McHenry County” Expo - County manufacturers set up displays like a trade show or parts or whatever communicates the story for students, residents, people in general to visit and see what is made right here. Also can include information on internship, apprenticeship, employment opportunities Saturday, October 4 – “Made in McHenry County” Expo plus a car show, equipment show and tinker task/model for the young people to show their skills. Location is the former Oak Industries building on Main and Crystal Lake Avenue in Crystal Lake Times: Set Up: Display/Trade Show display can be set up Thursday or Friday Expo open Friday at 1:00 until 6:00 Expo and Car Show – open at 8:00 until 1:00 Statistics on McHenry County Manufacturing: Contributes over 23% or $2.2 billion of Gross Regional Product Employs 13% or 16,369 people Average earnings per worker in 2013 - $77,512 53% of the individuals currently employed in manufacturing are over 45 years old
