National Park Week Fun Fact: On June 10, 1933, President Franklin Roosevelt transferred all national memorials and battlefields from the military to the National Park Service, redefining the concept of what a National Park could be. It sent a powerful message that the stories of our land and the stories of our people are worth preserving together as a single American heritage.
