National Skills Authority The National Skills Authority (NSA), in partnership with the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) and the Provincial Skills Development Forum, will convene a provincial skills planning workshop in the Eastern Cape this week. This follows the NSA’s successful provincial consultative workshops on the NSDS III, which took place in the nine provinces across the country, and a call made by the Presidential Infrastructure Coordinating Committee (PICC) to all provinces to develop a skills plan to support the implementation of the Strategic Integrated Projects (SIPs). The workshop seeks to promote the Eastern Cape’s drive to provide relevant skills for its various strategic infrastructure initiatives and provide a platform where the following objectives are met: • To disseminate information and improve awareness amongst critical stakeholders of the PICC processes. • To locate PICC processes within the objectives of the Provincial Skills Development Strategy, whilst taking developments at national level into account. • To coordinate efforts of all provincial stakeholders through the formulation of a draft provincial skills plan. NB: The workshop will be preceded by the Eastern Cape Green Skills Forum meeting on the 11th September 2013, where updates will be provided on, among others, the South African Renewable Energy Training Centre curriculum and programme development and developments within the renewable energy sector in the Eastern Cape.
