National Training in Intelligence Analysis held in Tajikistan 08 May 2014 Dushanbe, Tajikistan (08 May 2014) – Sixteen officers dealing with intelligence gathering and analysis in counter-drug field from Drug Control Agency, Border Service of State Committee on National security, Ministry of Interior and Customs Service participated in a national training on intelligence analysis. The training has been organized by the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP in cooperation with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD). Over the course of four days, an international trainer provided to participants the theory of intelligence analysis in a variety of interactive formats reinforced through the use of practical exercises. The trainer covered such topics as data collection and information management, crime pattern analysis, and critical thinking techniques. In particular, the trainer together with participants discussed how to analyse the criminal business of drug trafficking, which is relevant to participants’ area of work. It is expected that at the end of the training the participants will be acquainted with the theory and practice of basic analytical techniques. The overall objectives of BOMCA are to help increase security in the Central Asian region, to contribute toward the facilitation of legitimate trade and transit, and to reduce the illicit movement of goods and people.
