National Unfriend Day ... in the USA I presume but I think we should adopt it here. Well, I have anyway. Today I unfriended another Facebook Friend with great delight ... well, he invited me to do so anyway so I dont feel guilty about it. Ive warned him though before. When someone asks me to be a Friend and I accept, they are free to post anything that they want to appear on my Home feed. Thats fine as long as, when I notice it and comment or object to it, they respond to my comments in a civil and rational manner. No one should post anything that they are unwilling to defend. If they ignore or are abusive in response to my comments, Ill warn them and then Ill unfriend them if the disagreement continues. I do not assume that my page is the most interesting or most boring therefore Im tolerant of other Friends pages and of mine. I dont expect to know the real you from Facebook so dont expect the same of me. However, I know a lot more about friends now than I did before Facebook. Undoubtedly, I would have lost touch with many of you but for it. Thats a good thing. Last but not least: I really wont mind if anyone unfriends me so dont mind if I unfriend you because, for me, you not being a friend on Facebook doesnt mean that youre not a friend offline.
