National Voters Day celebrated in Doda EPICS distributed among newly enrolled electors MOHD ILYAS BUTT DODA, JAN 25. The Nationwide National Voter Day was celebrated in Doda today with great enthusiasm and fervour, a grand rally of newly enrolled electors being led by District Development Commissioner Doda Mr. Mubarak Singh was taken out from Tehsil Office Doda and proceeded through main bazaar of Doda town amidst raising slogans of importance of Voters Day and Election process. Additional District Development Commissioner, Doda Mr. G.N Balwan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda Mr. Imam Din, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Doda Mr. Niraj Kumar, Chief Planning Officer Doda Mr. Y.R Katoch , Besides Naib Tehsildar Election and other officers also participated in the rally . DDC Doda Mr. Singh also distributed Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPICS) among the newly enrolled electors on the occasion. While addressing the rally DDC highlighted the importance of National Voters Day and said that the day is being celebrated tocommemorate the foundation day of the Election Commission of India and to enhance the participation of the voters, especially the youth, in the democratic process. DDC also said that National Voters Day has contributed considerably to create awareness about the responsibilities of vote cast on all stakeholders for effective and meaningful participation in the electoral process. He also said that increase in enrolment of new electors/ voters reflects the success of this programme launched by Election Commission of India. District Development Commissioner Doda, besides other Officers, citizens and a large number of young boys and girls participated in the event. Congratulating the newly enrolled voters and Election Cell Doda for their efforts during the summary revision enabling addition of new voters. He directed the concerned officer to ensure that all the eligible persons get enrolled in the Voter lists for greater participation in democratic process. On the occasion Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) were distributed among scores of boys and girls by DDC Doda , who have attained the age of 18 years, thus becoming eligible for their right to vote and choose in the democratic process. Similar function was also organized at Bhaderwah where SDM Bhaderwah Mr. Bhupinder Singh led the proceedings.
