National news will trickle into Belchertown this evening at a public hearing that will be held at Lawrence Memorial Hall at 7:30 pm. As part of Comcasts navigation of regulatory hurdles in preparation for its proposed merger with Time Warner, a merger that is likely dangerous for Americans because make Comcasts service area the largest in the nation allow them to more easily hike rates, which are already too high and slower when compared to internet service in other nations (in addition to the issues that will evolve as a result of the FCCs proposed rule to create fast lanes that undermine net neutrality and stifle the development of new content providers that wouldnt be able to pay the toll), Comcast and Charter have struck a deal to switch customers in certain service areas like Belchertown to create a more geographically contiguous service area, which brings us to the topic of tonights public hearing--the switch of from Charter to Comcast.
