National parks across the country hold in their collections - TopicsExpress

National parks across the country hold in their collections objects painstakingly handcrafted by artisans. Made of wood, metal, cloth, leather or any other material which can be shaped by human hands these pieces can either represent traditions handed down through the generations or bold new strides in human ingenuity. Though they were made to fulfill some practical purpose, these items are works of art and when one stumbles across a particularly fine specimen while perusing the web catalog they cannot help but wonder who made it and why. This blog post describes a few of the handmade artifacts which can be found in parks across the United States and briefly tells their story.
