Native Delights is heading out to Fort Mac once again to feed our beautiful first nations people some yummy aboriginal cuisine and bannock. So grateful and humble to be going to this. The Healing Walk is a ceremonial walk of prayer around the tarsands loop. The tarsands loop is north of Fort McMurray and is a 12 km walk that is led by indigenous elders, who stop and pray in the 4 directions, to help heal the water, land, air and all living beings. It is to acknowledge the destruction that is happening to all of that, and to pray for it. It is a time where many nations come from all over Canada the U.S and the past few years, Europe as well, to come and listen to local people speak about their concerns about Health, Water, Land, Air and living beings, culture and treaties. You are all invited to come and listen, you dont have to be a expert, or have even attended an event like this before. You will be made welcome, will learn a lot about the issues we are facing regarding rapid industrialization and a government who is not giving things Like Solar a chance (we also have a workshop on alternative energy). It is not like going to a marathon, it is a walk, which the elders lead. All day Friday the events are occurring at Indian beach, which is just outside of Anzac. The Healing walk is Saturday and starts with a pipe ceremony at 9am, and the walk itself starts at 11am. We have vans circling around, offering snacks, water and rides to the washroom. If you need to rest, you can get In the van and go back to the starting point and chill for a bit. YOu only need to walk what you can.
