Nativity Special !! Nagercoil special !!! Chukku Malli Coffee!!! / Dry Ginger Coffee - A Tasty & Healthy Hot Drink !!! Dear Friends , Wishing you all a very very Happiee Pongal and Happiee Sankranthi!! :) :) A Dry ginger Coffee, called as Chukku Malli Coffee in Tamil Chukku( dry ginger) Malli(Coriander seeds)Coffee... A Secret Grandmas Recipe (Patti Vaithiyam) .... Really want to share a recipe of this wonderful and healthy Dry ginger coffee in these Winter days. This may helps many people. Now, Winter is in its peak around everywhere ... We People may feel very hard to do our everyday work, if we have cold, cough and soar throat, especially kids... What we will do??.... Searching for medical pills/ tonics to get relief??? Dont worry, the best and proven solution is right in our kitchen!!! By using some natural ingredients which are always available in our kitchen, We would prepare this Magical Medicinal Drink, Chukku Malli Coffee... Yeah it really works and do wonders to our sore throat , cold and cough, as each one of these spices has its own medicinal qualities. My Personal experience for years.....In my childhood, whenever I was getting cold sore throat or cough, my parent prepared this chukku coffee for me(Yeah.... of course with little more sweetness,less spices ;) ). They always keep a powdered dry ginger and palm sugar in their pantry. After my marriage also, whenever I get a chance to visit my moms place, my parents prepared powdered dry ginger palm sugar for me.... The Same practice is followed in my hubbys place too.... So I also used to prepare this coffee often, to my hubby, to get relief from sore throat/ cough / cold . Traditionally people in my place enjoy this Hot Chukku Malli Coffee with Spicy Mirchi Pakora( Milagai Pajji) :) :) ... I m sure nothing can beat this superb combo during winter evenings!!!! :) ;) Main Ingredients: Water -1 cup Palm sugar / powdered-1 tsp depends on sweetness needed,you can add it more Dry ginger/ chukku Powder -1 tsp Crushed coriander seeds- 1tsp Pepper powder-1/2 tsp Jeera seeds- 1 tsp ( optional) To enhance flavor and Taste : Coffee powder-1/2 tsp ( purely optional) Warm boiled milk- 1/4 cup ( purely optional) My husband likes to have this coffee by adding little milk with coffee powder. To get a quick relief from Cough/sore throat , if you dont want you can omitting adding milk. For kids, we can add milk and sugar as needed. Method: 1. Powdered Palm sugar and all the Spices, dry ginger, coriander seeds, pepper and jeera seeds. I m not using jeers seeds this time. 2. Heat a pan with a cup of water and boiling it. When it is lightly heated up, add powdered palm sugar and dissolved it completely . 3. When it is boiled, add all the spice powders and mixed well, and reduce the flame. Let it boil under low flame for 3-4 min, until all the essence of spice powders completely gets into boiled mixture.Now you can add coffee powder, mixed well and switch off the flame. 4. Now Filter this coffee using Strainer to remove residue (coarse powdered spices ) and get a clear Dry ginger coffee... But still we can get some small spots of spices.. No problem... Leave it. Note: If you want to add little milk, you can add at this stage. 5.Transfer it in to coffee cup and let it be rest for 1 min, to allow little spices to settled down at the bottom and get a clear Liquid essence of all spices at the top. (For a those who enjoy their cooking moments ...This one is for you .... Dont forget to enjoy a nice and unique aroma we can get at this stage, an aroma mixed of coffee smell and spices...wow!!.... I liked it very much....this aroma itself gives so much relief for cold and cough) Now a Tasty, Healthy,Aromatic and Hot Chukku Malli Coffee is Ready!!! Not only as a medicinal drink, We can enjoy Chukku Malli Coffee as a everyday tasty drink with Spicy Mirchi Pakora ....or simply with Oats Biscuits (as we do)!!! :) :) You always have to drink this coffee with little hot and taste it by sip by sip so that the spices and warmness in it touches and soothes soar throat.... Note: 1.To get Quick and effective relief from sore throat /cough, it will be better, if it is bit spicy. 2. You can make it in a large quantity and you can keep it for 2 days in a refrigerator . You can reheat it and have it. No need to repeat entire process.
