Nature Awareness 7/20/2014 - Komodo Dragon Komodo dragons are a large species of lizard found within the Indonesian islands. They grow to approximately three meters in length and can weigh up to 150+ pounds. They take 8-9 years to fully mature but can live to be 30 years old or older. Watching Komodo dragons defend their territory, hunt, or fight with one another is definitely something to behold. They are fearless and ruthless and very powerful. As for sensory awareness, these animals do not have very good hearing but navigate primarily by smell and through special taste receptors and with their forked tongue. It is this type of tasting and tongue that has given the Komodo dragon and its totem people the reputation for having a sharp tongue. If you choose to work with the Komodo Dragon, it might be wise to watch your words. Fearlessness and aggression are standard traits in the Komodo dragon, and people working with this energy can benefit. Fearlessness helps one get a lot accomplished; a lot of ground along lifes path can be covered quickly and efficiently with this trait. As for aggression, there are times when it is certainly called for as well, but tempering this if you are already an assertive person, might come in handy. Komodo dragon people also make quick and firm decisions, as they trust fully in their own survival instincts and have a very keen and deep awareness regarding the world around them. The people who hold this totem animal somewhere within the menagerie are no ones fools. If Komodo dragon is making a sudden appearance in your life, then it heralds a time of new adventures and journeys, physical and spiritual, for you. Be fearless in your pursuits. These changes will be long lasting, much like the Komodos life span; however, if you fail to act, the opportunity may not return for a very long time, much like the Komodos maturation time frame.
