Nature doesn’t struggle to produce the marvelous and varied - TopicsExpress

Nature doesn’t struggle to produce the marvelous and varied displays of beauty all around us. In fact, if we don’t continuously trim, prune, plow, or spray to rein it in a bit, it doesn’t take long to lose the driveway, walkways, fences, and more. When the basic needs are present—sun, earth, water, and air—life explodes in growth and variety. Birds fly, fish swim, the planets move in their orbits, roots reach down while limbs reach up, all without any assistance from us. We humans have a tendency to complicate things. We want to change and control things and make them conform to our preferences. That’s not always a bad thing, and indeed, many a wonderful invention has come about because of these urges to do something about something. On the other hand, even nature takes time out and turns within for rest and renewal, and as far as we know, there’s no judgment about that. There is a lot to be said for inaction, repose, reflection, and rest. Pushing the “pause” button makes space for something new to emerge, for something to be restored, or to notice what no longer works in our lives. Won’t you take time to meditate and listen deeply for what the Living Spirit within you has to say? You will be glad you did.
