Need help from fellow CS/programming minds: OK, Blayre is interested in app development and I want him to learn the basics first. I know there are sites like Scratch that help to abstract the concepts of objects, interactions, etc. (like a Sesame St for OO), but hes a bit past that. I had him walk through an exercise where he did some VERY basic javascript manipulation of a box, size, position, color, and declaring those attributes as variables, etc. Whats next for a fifth-grader who wants to learn how to program? Is it too early for an OReilly book? I think of Capouch and his app-developer success, but that was with CS students. How does one teach data structures and basic programming to someone who wants to learn? When I was his age it was the turtle and BASIC, then onto Pascal...whats the right way to keep his interest and cultivate this budding entrepreneur? (he specifically wants to use his future game revenue to start a company that sells armored bunkers and civilian minelayers for whatever next apocalypse is afoot)
