Need proof that good people still exist in the world? This is a true story. I had dinner last night at Benvenutos on Northport in Madison, Wisconsin with my extended family. There were seven of us at dinner. We were celebrating my daughters confirmation. Shortly after we were seated, a gentleman wearing a United States Marine Corps jacket approached our table. He said that he wanted to make a contribution to our dinner celebration. He tossed an envelope on the table and walked away. Inside the envelope was a gift card for $100. When I asked the host and hostess if they knew who he was, they said no. He had simply come in that evening and asked to purchase a gift card that could be used that evening. We were the recipients of his generosity. Although there is almost no chance that hell see this, Im going to respond to him anyway. Dear Sir, I am guessing from your jacket that you served in the military. Thank you for your service. We are very blessed to be able to go out for a nice dinner and afford to pay for it. That doesnt diminish the value of your generosity. Your gift prompted much discussion. We have decided to pay it forward. There were three young people in our group. I have given each of them $25 to perform a random act of kindness as they see fit. I will do the same. Your gift continues. We had a wonderful evening with much laughter and love.
