Need some opinions/discussions on readability in night shots: theatrical versus realistic lighting. Heres a study Ive been doing on a gas station at night. Shot 1 is pure night, how it might look in a movie still, shot 2 is taking some liberties with back-lit fog and a bit more ambient light illuminating the forms (that would otherwise not be lit in real life) and shot 3 is leaning towards animated feature lighting (pixar etc) where theres quite a lot of luminance compared to real life. So, given that #1 is most realistic but the least readable.... Id love to hear thoughts? stayinwonderland/images/sketchbook/gas-station/night+foggy+dark_1200px.jpg
