Need to get something off my chest. I will offend some of you so feel free to ignore it or even unfriend me if you truly feel you need to although please keep in mind that I am exercising the same freedom of speech that you are when you post your thoughts and/or beliefs. Why is everyone afraid to say Merry Christmas? If a Jewish person tells me Happy Hanukkah then I smile and say thank you. If someone wishes me a Happy Kwanza I smile and say thank you. I dont celebrate either of these but I appreciate the sentiment behind the words. I celebrate Christmas so I tell people Merry Christmas. I dont wake up on holiday morning and watch my girls open presents and then go to my in-laws for seasons dinner so why should I say Happy Holidays or Seasons Greetings? So many people say they are atheist, agnostic, etc. So many people claim they wont go to church or be friends with a Christian because we are hypocrites and judgmental. SO instead they judge us. They walk around singing Christmas carols about Jesus. I worked with person that claimed to be an atheist and then told me their favorite Christmas song was Silent Night...WHAT???? So we are judgmental and hypocritical? No, we are humans like everyone else. If you dont share my beliefs, fine. If the subject comes up then tell me you prefer not to discuss religion or beliefs, I wont be offended. But PLEASE, stop judging me and my beliefs on what you have seen or heard from others or the media. Ask me first, then tell me you dont agree, I wont lash out. If I say Merry Christmas please understand that I am wishing you good things. If you respond with Happy Holidays, I wont freak out at you but please dont preach at me about offending others. If you are a Christian, say Merry Christmas!! If you arent, please stop putting us down if we say it to you. If you celebrate Christmas then say Merry Christmas. Dont yell freedom of speech when you share your thoughts/beliefs then try to censor me. During this Christmas season, speak world peace then try to share it by action.
