Need to rant and rave a bit. Farrier no 1 used to hang on the paddocks chatting on his phone whilst his helpers would trim my horses feet, All well until one day both my horses went super lame the day after the trimming. So bad that I had to carry their food after them as they would be to sore to walk up to their hay. Phoned farrier and was told that Why is it his problem as his guy must have cut them a bit short it will clear up after a day or two After 10 days I phoned him and said they are still hobbling about and got the same sort of response, Phoned another farrier which came out and put front shoes on and trimmed away the back feet to eliviate the pressure and my horses were sound!!!! All goes well. Decided to leave the front shoes on as when we hack we have to go on very rocky and hard ground to get to the farm area. Now my one horse threw both his front shoes not even a week after being done. Farrier keeps making appointment ,then fails to pitch. Every time I have to contact him and then get I get told he will come the next day as he is a bit busy etc etc And this is just going on and on!. Every day I have to put my life on hold as I am expecting him to come, I have to postpone my riding commitments!!I do not have a groom to rely on to help to catch the horse as he is not a easy bugger. I am so tired of this. It is their job and it is not a favor they are doing me????? Seems like pure and simple business savvy and good manners does not seem to matter?? Why is their time more important than mine? Both farriers have come highly recommended and the work of the latter is good but no good business ethics. Do I try a third one??
