Neighbourhood Kid in Neighbourhood Schools All The Way Some - TopicsExpress

Neighbourhood Kid in Neighbourhood Schools All The Way Some parents have highlighted to me their concerns about sending children to neighbourhood schools as against the elite types. I have no real experience in elite schools so will not say anything about it. What I could readily admit is that my own experience in neighborhood schools have been more than fulfilling. In fact, I would not be what I am today without that memorable experience. I was from Eunos Primary school, Geylang Methodist Secondary School and the college that produces celebrities, Tampines Junior College. Throughout this journey with the most humble of Singaporeans, I have learnt to accept failure, to tolerate friends with unruly behaviour while seeking to reform them and myself, to be an all-rounder in sports and studies and also to appreciate and love all my teachers. Why? Because in those schools, everyone is seen as equals, we are all trying hard to do well and we tend to respect one another regardless of colour, religion, language and so forth. For parents who are worried about having children in neighbourhood, chill out. Spend more time with your children, let them explore life with the folks in the heartlands and explore as much activities as possible. Someday, and with proper guidance, they and my own children who are in neighborhood schools, will be better than us all. Kudos to all the teachers in Neighbourhood Schools who made us Neighbourhood Kids what we are Today!
