It is only Congress governments that indiscriminately and ILLEGALLY changed or ignored the land classification in land revenue records and record of rights. Similarly, only after independence there was mass scale destruction of forests and wanton misuse of natural resources in the name of hurried industrialisation at the behest of the Soviet Union and other communist countries and elements within the country, and under the dubious Grow More Food campaign. Maximum deforestation in history was between 1950-1980. Similarly, in the name of construction of massive dams, crores of acres of land were grabbed by politicians and their cronies that were actually never needed for the declared purpose... As per rules these should have been denotified and returned to the farmers which was never done. In fact, there was mass scale misuse of land acquisition process which was ruinous for the farmers who were compelled to become migrant labourers in cities and also ruinous to agricultural production which resulted in famines during mid 1960s.
