Nepali batting never got going. The pace and movement of Man of the Match Dalwat Zadran troubled the top order. Such was his influence that the first four Nepali dismissals were all his! Nepal never recovered and the Afghan progress was only halted by rain. After resumption, a Nepal win seemed very unlikely as Nepal needed 181 runs in 15 overs with only 5 wickets in hand! Afghan bowlers went on to tighten screws and take further wickets. A small cameo from Sompal and a helping hand by Shakti ensured Nepal crossed 117 which lead to a better net run rate than Oman. Nepal, Afghanistan, Oman and UAE qualify for the ACC Championship which will be held at UAE in December of this year. On a brighter note, Gulmi Express Sompal finished the tournament with 15 wickets, a whopping 5 wickets more than Irfan Ahmed, who finished 2nd with 10 wickets. Basant Regmi finished joint 3rd with 9 wickets to his name. The players will be return to Kathmandu tomorrow at 11:30am and we await a new era in Nepali Cricket - The Nepal Premier League.
