Nepotism occurs in many areas of politics and business, even - TopicsExpress

Nepotism occurs in many areas of politics and business, even within community organisations. Yes, Muslim community organisations engage in this practice as well. It has existed in the past, and still continues unchallenged today. A few years ago, even in the largest Muslim organisation, a motion was put forward at their AGM to cease this practice where family members of the Board would not be allowed to be contracted to receive financial grants for project, and the motion was not supported (what a joke!). There are a few Muslim organisations who engage in this practice and those who know about it even internally, are afraid to challenge the leadership because they are either ignored, silence, or they just leave the organisation dejected because of the failed politics of it all. What is nepotism? It is favouritism granted in politics, organisation, or business to ones own relatives, intimate familial, or close personal relationships. How it occurs within an organisation? When a person is employed or contracted due to their family or intimate personal ties. It is generally seen as unethical by the employer and the employee where they are both guilty of the practice. These practices harm the community and it just serves to reinforce the status quo. Nothing changes, we reach a stand still, and the community suffers unfortunately.
