Nets 105, Bobcats 89 Jake Appleman, for NBA Posted Wed Feb 12, 2014 10:56 PM - Updated Wed Feb 12, 2014 10:56 PM THE FACT: The Nets will head into the All-Star break having won 11 out of their past 13 home games after starting the season 5-9 at Barclays Center. THE LEAD: The Nets breezed past the Bobcats 105-89 behind a ruthlessly efficient Paul Pierce. Pierce popped in 25 points in 22 minutes, on 9-for-11 shooting, including a perfect 5-for-5 from behind the arc. Effective play at the center position from Kevin Garnett and Andray Blatche (a combined 23 points and eight rebounds) also solidified the Nets stranglehold on the game. With the win the Nets moved a half-game behind Washington and Atlanta for the fifth and sixth spots in the Eastern Conference, while the Bobcats maintained a slim half-game lead over the Pistons for the eighth spot. The Bobcats play the Pistons twice in two days right after the All-Star break. THE STAT: One game after setting a franchise record with 42 assists on 45 made field goals, the Bobcats finished with only 17 assists on 36 field goals and shot a below-average 41 percent from the field. TURNING POINT: A 10-0 run to start the third put the Nets up 16 and the outcome was effectively decided. INJURY UPDATE: Bobcats point guard Kemba Walker played 38 minutes despite a stiffened Achilles. Walker shot 6-for-17 and led his team with 16 points.
