Never Will I Forget There are many painful memories That I’ll never forget; Like the silence of both of my grandfathers Dying as they rested in bed. One died when I was about four years old. Never had I held a hand That felt so cold. It’s a blurry image, Because the story was never told; So I try to write these words To see if it unfolds. When I was sixteen, I was only expecting bad news. I tried to cover up my pain, But I couldn’t find an excuse. On the phone, my mom said: “Your grandpa is in a coma.” I inhaled the darkness in the room; It had a pleasant aroma. We flew to Peru To visit him in the hospital. When I looked at him, I couldn’t believe that it was possible. Tears fell down my face Like sudden pouring rain. Never will I forget The pain that I contained. -WonderOne, San Mateo
