Never hire people who are not adequately qualifi ed: it is better to wait for a professional collaborator than to hire someone who could damage your reputation. Th e problem about hiring professional people is twofold: one, they are more expensive than the others, and two, they might leave your company quite quickly to start their own business. Th e answer to those two objections is quite simple: if they are expensive – and, in fact, they should be – it is up to you to add their value to your mission so that it can be even more profi table than before. Th e second point is more diffi cult: if they want to leave they will, but if from the very beginning you want to keep them on-board, you will have plenty of opportunities to convince them to stay. Pay them enough so that they are not tempted to leave your company, give them enough free time to study, pay for their education, make them junior partners if necessary, give them more responsibility...
