Never the twain shall meet’ Kamal refutes news report ‘attributed’ to him about Modi =>National Conference Additional General Secretary Dr Shiekh Mustafa Kamal Tuesday refuted the news report that appeared in a section of newspapers claiming that if Narendra Modi becomes the Prime Minster of India, National Conference will develop a ‘harmonious’ relationship with him. In a hurriedly called press conference, Kamal who was flanked by party provincial president Kashmir zone Nasir Aslam Wani told reporters at his private residence that the news attributed to him that NC will support Narinder Modi or NDA at the Centre post 2014 General Elections to the Indian Parliament is wrong and he vehemently denying having said that. “I cannot even conceive this in the backdrop of the last NDA Government at the Centre having trashed the greater Autonomy resolution of the 9th J&K Legislative Assembly in 2000,” Kamal said. He said that, “there is no meeting ground between Modi who is ‘communalism personified’ and NC which is the epitome of secularism. As they say never the twain shall meet,” Kamal said adding that he was misquoted as he never said that NC will support Modi if he becomes the Prime Minister of India. He appealed media to exercise caution and restraint when reporting telephonic conversations. “I make a passionate appeal to media to spare me this agony,” he said. Dr Shiekh Mustafa Kamal told reporters that for peace progress and prosperity of a country, “we need a secular dispensation as the UPA at the Centre. NC being a constituent of the UPA would go along with such a dispensation as we have done so for in the overall good of the nation and the State. He said that NDA was responsible of propping up through dubious means. Kamal also accused Mufti Muhammad Sayeed of mass destruction in Kashmir. (CNS)
