Never thought I would see Lincecum no-hit the Padres for a second - TopicsExpress

Never thought I would see Lincecum no-hit the Padres for a second time, but thats indeed what happened today as the Giants defeated the Pads 4-0. Hes the first to throw no-hitters against the same team since Addie Joss did it against the Indians in 1908 and again in 1910. He struck out 6, and were it not for a walk issued to Headley in the 2nd, it would have been a perfect game. He didnt need any spectacular defensive plays for help…just a bunch of comfortable 0-fors handed to the Pads lineup. He appeared to do it with mostly fastballs and Splitfingers early, then later found the feel for his curveball which only made things easier. Most of his pitches towards the end were off speed, with some elevated fastball out of the zone for effect. Hes the 32nd pitcher in MLB history to throw multiple no-hitters in a career, and it was the 8th in SF Giants history (16th in franchise history). Not much more to say….its a great feet he accomplished, and nothing should be taken away from it. Pads have the day off from playing tomorrow but the city will pay homage to the greatest baseball player to wear the Padres MLB uniform - Mr. Tony Gwynn. The celebration of his career and life will begin tomorrow night at 7:19 at Petco Park. Hope to see you there.
