Never too old to fall in love – dating for the elderly As the country celebrated China’s Elderly Day, one group of retirees decided to have their own kind of fun; a blind dating party exclusively for the #elderly. Also known as the “Double Nine” festival, it’s a day where people across #China typically pay their respect to the elderly people in their families. But some decided they want to add a #romantic spark to the day. On Thursday, a blind-date party was held in Qingdao, Shandong Province, just for the elderly, with the oldest participant aged over 80. The event, which was held by a community housekeeping organization, aimed to relieve the loneliness of elderly people who had lost their spouses. And it went pretty well! Among the 400 participants, over 30 elderly people found new partners and exchanged numbers, one organizer said.
