It will think you are punishing it for coming. the word "Come" should be a joyful occasion with the dog being rewarded for coming to you on command. If your dog is doing something wrong, go to it, say a sharp NO! then give it something to distract it. i.e. its favorite toy. Then call the dog to you and make "Come" a very special occasion with a treat reward. the dog will soon get the message of what is right and wrong. Physical punishments should NEVER, EVER be used on your dog. It shows VIOLENCE and the dog will only learn violence from you and you will NEVER EVER get respect from your dog.
