Nevers Mumba: When The Righteous Rule, People Rejoice Born in 1960 and served as Vice President from 2003 to 2004 under Levy Mwanawasa. He is the Founder of Victory Bible Church. His mother is one of the sisters of Kenneth Kaunda, Zambias first president. On 25th May 2012 he won the Presidency of the MMD and defeated amongst others Felix Mutati. He is well known not just in Zambia but also in Namibia, Uganda, South Africa, Canada and the US. (Source : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevers_Mumba and news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/2956122.stm) The MMD is built on two fundamental values : Democracy and Private Sector driven economic policies. On this premise Nevers Mumba is was quoted as saying :I am fiercely determined to ensure that the noble values of democracy and the rule of law are maintained and respected in our party. There shall be no short-cuts and no compromises. It was for this reason that our general membership asked me to take up the leadership of the party; to ensure that I fight to keep the honor and integrity of the values of our organization. I shall not disappoint our members He is further quoted as being told that a Bemba could not win the elections based on the following three main reasons : 1. A Bemba cannot win an election because of what Mr Sata had done 2. I had no money to compete against some well-oiled candidates 3. A Pastor cannot win a political contest of that nature And whilst it is true that he has does no command the financial muscle that most candidates have, It is not a moneyed candidate that Zambia so lacks but one who will galvanize our country into one once again irregladless of tribe, color, creed and what not! When on 26th September 2011, when RB chose of his own free violation to stand down as the MMDs President, all wished him well and several candidates put their names forward to stand for the Presidency! Nevers Mumba won the MMD Presidency with over 70% of the vote thus meaning that in the MMDs history only him and the late Frederick Chiluba had won by such margins. To this he quoted this scripture : “The Lord takes the foolish things of this world to confound the wise.” Another interesting quote was : “I am my own man and shall not sell my birth-right to any individual or cartel.” His Vision ??? This fresh leadership will ensure that fertilizer, mealie meal and food prices are affordable to all Zambians. This fresh leadership will ensure that Zambians become the supreme beneficiaries of all our natural resources. This fresh leadership must clean up Zambia’s image in order to participate in the global economy and dialogue. This fresh leadership must unlock the innovation of every Zambian by ensuring that freedoms are protected for all Zambians. ( Source : https://zambianwatchdog/reflections-by-nevers-mumba/) Ubuloshi (Source : eliasmunshya.org/tag/nevers-mumba/) One Elias Munshya on his blog is quoted as saying the following : If RB wants to stand, it would be great for the likes of Mulusa and RB to form the Movement for Bwezani and Mulusa (MBM) so that they can field RB. They should leave the MMD so that the party functions under the leadership of its elected president. What RB is doing to MMD, is not leadership but treachery. This is not how an elder statesman behaves, this is the way a spoiled child behaves. In other words and indeed for a lack of a better term what Rupiah Banda is doing can be called “Ubuloshi.” To which he explains Ubuloshi as : I do not mean that RB ni ndoshi, here is my definition of political “ubuloshi”. Going behind the back of an elected leader and engineering a “political comeback” by poisoning the minds and hearts of the very people that were responsible for the failure of the MMD in the first place......interesting! In closure, the BBC summed the MMDs Nevers Mumbas as follows : Never in the history of Zambian politics has someones rise to power been so meteoric as that of Nevers Mumba. ..................................... Since independence, we have changed both governments and Presidents, but now it is time to change the politics. Let us go for Morality and Integrity in politics. My entry into politics is to change the color of Zambian politics. To create an environment of equal justice for all, regardless of political affiliation. Vote Nevers Mumba for President. When the boat has sailed without you, it maybe a good idea to look out for land as God may direct you. Imagine if Noah had not heeded ????
