New Blog Post: A Visitors Guide to D-Day Award-winning local author and amatuer historian, Robert Mueller will visit the library to set the scene and share some of the events on Omaha Beach during the D-Day landings at Normandy. His latest book, the second in the Fields of War series Fields of War: Battle of Normandy, is a visitors guide book to the Normandy invasion. It was recently named a finalist by the Independent Book Publishing Professionals Group in the Travel Category. Roberts first book, Fields of War: Fifty Key Battlefields in France and Belgium is a travel guide to Frances battlefields and is larger in scope covering major conflicts in France since the 1300s. Fields of War has won multiple awards for travel writing. It is a brave author who attempts to pack more than 600 years of military history into one volume, but Mueller succeeds in this with some skill, and the book is nicely organized in chapters covering periods from the Hundred Years War and WW2. praises Paul Reed, a fellow historian. So, come and learn some history on June 11 at 7:00pm, registration is open tomorrow tplibrary.org/events/men-omaha-beach (Tuesday 5/20)!
