New Fixed Penalty Fines for Motoring offences As from Friday - TopicsExpress

New Fixed Penalty Fines for Motoring offences As from Friday 16th August 2013, there are new penalties for drivers. Instead of having to pursue “careless driving” through the Courts, the Police will have the power to issue a penalty notice for careless driving. Careless driving can include tail-gaiting, hand brake turns, getting in the wrong lane at a roundabout and middle lane hogging! A fixed penalty notice will cost you £100 and 3 penalty points. Introducing fixed penalty notices, apparently aims to give Police greater flexibility in dealing with less serious careless driving offences. The Police can now also offer a driver awareness course (about £100) as an alternative. This may save your insurance premium and 3 penalty points. If you don’t agree, you can still appeal any decision in Court. There are also increasing penalty levels for most motoring offences from £60 to £100. This includes speeding, using a mobile phone at the wheel and not wearing a seatbelt. If you need help with motoring offences, then contact the Crime department at Paul Robinson Solicitors LLP. We offer a fixed fee interview for £75+vat consultation on all traffic matters to provide initial advice.
