New Gate Access Control Procedures. Effective Sept. 4, the access control procedures for visitors entering Fort Carson are changing. All personnel not in possession of a Department of Defense issued photo identification card will be required to process through Gate 1 (Nelson Boulevard and CO Highway 115). The first traffic lane (far left) at Gate 1 will be reserved for DOD ID card holders with visitor processing taking place in the remaining lanes. All visitors 18 years and older will have their ID electronically scanned and vetted against law enforcement data bases to determine eligibility to enter Fort Carson. Their vehicles are subject to inspection prior to being granted access. Gate 3 will continue to process commercial vehicles with the first traffic lane (far left) reserved for DOD ID card holders. DoD ID card holders are authorized access through any gate and any lane. While the Trusted Traveler program is in effect, DoD ID card holders are reminded that all personnel who have been issued a DOD ID, and guests 18 years and older should have their ID in their possession. Companies who enroll in the RAPIDGate ™ program are still authorized access through any gate. For those who forget their DoD ID they must use the first traffic lane (far left) at Gate 1. For more information, contact the Directorate of Emergency Services, Security and Access Control Division at 526-5543.
