New Jersey News Suspect arrested in beating of infant in Plainfield Sunday, May 12, 2013 TAGS:new jersey, plainfield, child abuse, child injured, new jersey news Comment NowEmailPrintReport a typo Eyewitness News PLAINFIELD (WABC) -- Authorities in New Jersey have arrested Michael Bell, suspected in the beating of his 3-month old child. Police say Bell was arrested near Penn Station in Newark while trying to flee the state by bus. He is being held without bail in the Union County Jail. Police were called to a house on Lee Place in Plainfield around 10:35 p.m. Friday. There, they discovered an injured 3-month-old child who was immediately transferred to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. Doctors later determined that the child, now listed in grave condition, was suffering from fractures and internal bleeding. Authorities have charged Bell with 2nd Degree Aggravated Assault. Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow says Bell fled the house after allegedly assaulting the child.
