New Jersey voters overwhelmingly voted YES for Public Question 2 - TopicsExpress

New Jersey voters overwhelmingly voted YES for Public Question 2 in yesterdays election. The tremendous bipartisan support shows that protecting clean water and open space is a value that unites us. New Jersey now has a stable source of funding to preserve open space, farmland, and historic places. Yesterdays Public Question 2 is the 14th time New Jersey voters have been asked to support statewide funding for preservation. It is the first time that funds will be specifically dedicated for stewardship so that New Jersey can take care of preserved land . The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection estimates that another 650,000 acres of land needs to be preserved to protect our water resources and quality of life. The New Jersey Department of Agriculture estimates that another 350,000 acres of land needs to be preserved to maintain agriculture as a viable industry in the state. ANJEC looks forward to continuing to work in partnership with environmental commission members and local leaders to protect New Jerseys clean water and environment. Thank you for your support and all of your hard work to protect New Jerseys natural resources. Jennifer M. Coffey Executive Director ANJEC
