New Jerseys lawmakers just poured a bottle of Crisco oil onto their proverbial slippery slope. Law enforcement in the state are now ticketing drivers for eating in their cars. Yes, thats right...the state now has a Distracted Driver law. So, if you are eating, or performing a function in your car that the police deem distracting, you will be ticketed. You know where this is going, dont you?.......When my state passed a law making it illegal to talk on the cell phone while driving, I heard little protest. The law was a super sweet deal for the cell phone companies. Drivers had to purchase headsets, blue tooths, head gear, and other paraphanalia to be compliant with the law. I refused to get any of it as I have no respect for the unconstitutional law, and I realized that the lawmakers were figuratively in bed with Big Cell. But the law also laid the groundwork for future actions of oppression by the out -of-control state and federal governmentS. Still, most people agreed to go along to get along. As I said before, I have no respect for the law.............NOw, that New Jersey has written a law with such subjectivity as Distracted Drivers Law, the police will be free and obligated to set their own standards for distracted drivers. Will it be illegal to look into the back seat at a crying baby? Will it be illegal to have a dog in your car? Will it be illegal to change the channels on your radio? Will it be illegal to turn your head and talk to a passenger in your car? I contend that for a Republican, anything will be on the table. The state of New Jersey has just made it possible for the power-hungry law enforcers to create their own definition of distraction...........WELCOME TO THE COMMUNIST STATES OF AMERICA!
