They are currently looking to recruit a Commercial Manager to join their growing Commercial team. This is a unique opportunity to join a company from its inception and help shape the Commercial function in one of the most exciting projects in the UK today. You will aid in the development of robust processes and a reliable supply chain for numerous projects. Job Role Reporting directly to the Head of Procurement the Commercial Manager role is to safely deliver performing contracts and support the Commercial Directorate in development of a Procurement Programme which supports the agreed integrated schedule for project delivery. -Development of contracting strategy for complex activities within designated market areas. -Manage the procurement processes including supplier appraisal, development of specifications, tender preparation, the bidding process, tender assessment and negotiation. - Manage the handover process and subsequent contract administration including contract kick off, variation management, claims management, programme / performance monitoring and payment validation -Manage the commercial staff allocated to the contract. Act as focal point and single point of instruction between the company and contractor. Duties -Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the supply chain and maintain proportionate relationships within identified market sectors. -Establish and maintain strong working/strategic relationships with relevant customers and business stakeholders. -In consultation with relevant stakeholders, develop and draft the Procurement Programme (i.e. the schedule of contracts) -In consultation with the Project Manager/Client and other business departments, develop, draft and secure approval of individual contract strategies in line with the Commercial Strategy and procedures. -Undertake commercial/contractual review of technical bidding documentation to establish suitability and consistency. -Manage evaluation of supply market for potential bidders in conjunction with Supply Chain Management Team and management of pre-assessment of potential bidders. -Management of bidding period - site visits, requests for additional information, extension of time and management of formal receipt and distribution of bids. -Ensure that Contractors, Suppliers and support staff support safe delivery of the project and maintain full compliance within agreed safety and environmental standards and expectations and that individuals involved with the contract are suitably qualified and experienced to undertake allocated work. -Ensure that all activities are carried out with full regard to regulatory expectations, statutory regulations, company and location directives, procedures and safety rules. Qualifications and Experience -Track record of success and achievement with career to date. Extensive experience within Procurement and Contract Management in the field of large scale construction/infrastructure or complex procurement projects -Demonstrate leading edge knowledge, experience and understanding of management of operational aspects of complex commercial and contract strategies for the contract management of a wide range of frameworks. -Proven capability and skills in complex negotiations or deal closing. -Relevant leadership experience and the ability to operate within complex organisational and project/multi-disciplinary structures. -Appreciation of engineering principles and practices. -Degree calibre or equivalent with possession of relevant accredited procurement qualification or equivalent (CIPS, MCIPS, AACE, ACostE etc) -Sound commercial judgement and decision making and an ability to demonstrate a considered view in commercial contractual matters. -Stakeholder and relationship management with senior managers across the company and across external supplier businesses -Appreciation of principles and practices of nuclear safety and knowledge of other health and safety requirements including relevant legislation. Understanding of responsibility for safe working and appreciation of safety management principles for others. -Appreciate the significance of design change controls -Project management -Highly motivated and possess strong interpersonal skills.
